Welcome to the Swan 42 Class Association website. The Swan 42 is an exciting one design racer-cruiser designed by German Frers, Jr. and built by Nautor Swan that is suitable for inshore day races, cruising, and offshore competition requiring open ocean passages.
The purpose of the Swan 42 Class Association is to foster high level sailing competition between amateur yachtsmen and their predominately amateur crews. The Class Rules strictly control performance characteristics and the cost of ownership so as to protect the one design nature of the boat.
That the concept for this Class has clearly resonated with many in the sailing community is evident by our growth. Within only one year of the 2006 launch of hull #1, Conspiracy, 18 boats participated in the first-ever National Championship for the Swan 42 Class in September of 2007. As we enter our second year, the Swan 42 fleet is experiencing a rapid expansion with over 35 boats already sold to owners in 10 different countries.
We would like thank the 12 Metre Class for providing the "skeleton site" for the new Swan 42 Class Association website. A special thanks goes to Jan Slee, the 12 Metre Class President, for his support, encouragement and continued availability to assist in posting updated details as they become available.
Owners, crew and all interested in the Swan 42 Class are encouraged to visit the site often as we expand and add new information. On behalf of the Swan 42 Executive Committee and the owners of these beautiful yachts, welcome to the Swan 42 Class Association – the fun has just begun!
